The Secretariat of the International Farabi Festival and the Institute for Social and Cultural Studies jointly organize the biennial congress “Comparative and interdisciplinary studies of Farabi and contemporary culture” with the goal of fostering a comparative dialogue about the philosophical and cultural ideas Hakim Abu Nasr Farabi. In the first World Congress on Farabi and Islamic Culture and Civilization, we are attempting to answer Farabi through the lens of contemporary global issues, particularly the questions raised in the academic fields of humanities, while rereading the thoughts of this pious and sage in the true sense of the word. This is a genuine opportunity for us to engage with Farabi in a serious and academic dialogue, which, in the framework of Khorasan civilization and cultural Iran, genuinely fulfills Farabi’s ambition and character.
In the first meeting of this congress, in addition to the participation of Iranian and Kazakh academic institutions, a group of prominent international Farabi scholars from both Iran and Kazakhstan will examine Farabi’s opinions and ideas. For this purpose, in the scientific committee of this congress, consisting of Iranian and non-Iranian authoritative Farabi scholars, beside publishing the collection of articles of this congress, which will be held on March 1 to 3, 2023, a series of meetings will also be planned and organized on the ideas of Farabi, which will be implemented by the secretariat of the congress. Among the other initiatives of the secretariat of the congress that will be carried out prior to the conference are the commemoration of Professor Mohsen Mehdi on World Farabi Day, November 21, 2022, and scientific meetings of Farabi scholars together with masters of humanities and social sciences.
